VanWest College Vancouver

VanWest College’s Vancouver campus is on Nelson Street in the downtown area. The college offers English language programmes alongside separate vocational education. For language learners, its range includes general skills development, speaking-focused study and English used in professional situations.

General, spoken and workplace English

General English covers reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary through a level-based structure. Students can choose different weekly lesson loads. Morning study can be supplemented by electives addressing communication or a more specialised topic.

English for Business develops language for workplace situations such as meetings, presentations, emails and telephone calls. Speak Up focuses on learners who want more practice using spoken English. Vancouver-specific choices also include customer-relations, social-media and flight-attendant English, with entry levels and intake arrangements depending on the course.

Support and facilities in Vancouver

The campus lists classrooms, a computer laboratory, a student lounge and a patio. Students receive guidance from an assigned advisor, and the college organises activities beyond lessons. Homestay and residence options are available through its housing provision.

Learners should distinguish an English course from a vocational diploma when comparing study plans. A specialist language option may require an existing level of English, and availability can vary. Confirm the desired course, weekly timetable and any progression conditions before committing to a longer programme or arranging accommodation.
