Seoul National University Korean Language Education Center

Seoul National University’s Korean Language Education Center is part of its Language Education Institute on the Gwanak campus. The regular Korean Language and Culture Programme serves international learners preparing for study, work or other activities involving Korean. The teaching centre is based around the Language Education Institute buildings, with its main office in Building 137.

Regular and advanced Korean study

The regular programme runs in four seasonal terms. Each term lasts ten weeks, and learners are placed into levels one to six according to their Korean ability. Morning and afternoon tracks follow the same programme. Students who complete the upper regular level can consider an advanced academic class, which includes more demanding writing for academic or practical purposes.

Optional classes and cultural experiences supplement the main curriculum. The centre notes that elective provision depends on demand and that timetable choices can affect whether a learner can attend an elective.

A university campus in Gwanak

The campus environment differs from a small city-centre language academy. When comparing accommodation, students should plan travel to the actual teaching buildings rather than simply choosing somewhere near a station carrying the university’s name.

For course selection, establish the appropriate level and whether the morning or afternoon track fits any additional study plans. Application, placement and teaching dates are separate stages in the calendar. Cultural activities may vary by term, so their precise content should be confirmed for the intended stay.
