National Chengchi University Chinese Language Center

National Chengchi University’s Chinese Language Center is located at the university’s Wenshan campus in Taipei. It offers non-degree Mandarin study for international learners, including students whose main purpose in Taiwan is language learning. The Zhinan Road setting provides a university environment outside the city’s central commercial districts.

Seasonal Mandarin with placement assessment

The regular programme operates across four terms each year. Classes meet on weekdays and cover listening, speaking, reading and writing. The centre divides learners into broad proficiency bands, with further distinctions within those bands, using placement results to identify an appropriate class.

Lessons are taught in Chinese. Morning and afternoon arrangements depend on the student’s level and the centre’s class organisation, so a particular time slot should not be assumed in advance. Alongside the regular programme, the centre lists short-term and individual options for different learning needs.

A campus routine in Wenshan

The centre’s programme information includes language and cultural learning opportunities that supplement formal study. Its location suits learners who want Mandarin lessons to form part of a university-based daily routine. Accommodation applications and course admission have their own arrangements; neither should be assumed to follow automatically from an enquiry.

When planning a term, allow time for the application deadline, placement process and travel to campus. The useful comparison is between the full study commitment and the learner’s schedule, rather than classroom hours alone.
