Hawthorn-Melbourne

Hawthorn-Melbourne teaches English from its city-centre campus at 333 Exhibition Street. Opened in January 2024, the campus occupies two levels and sits opposite Carlton Gardens. Nearby tram routes and the Parliament and Melbourne Central stations provide ways to travel from different parts of Melbourne. The school marks forty years of English teaching in 2026.

Everyday language and academic preparation

General English is offered across seven levels, from beginner to advanced, and develops the four main language skills together with grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The programme uses practical situations to build communication for travel, work and daily life. Other courses include English for Academic Purposes, IELTS preparation, English for Business and English for High School. University-oriented bridging and preparation options have their own entry requirements.

Assessment and life beyond class

Students are assessed before beginning General English so that their starting level reflects their language needs. Progress is reviewed through course assessments and feedback. Social activities after class and at weekends offer further opportunities to practise. The Exhibition Street setting gives learners access to city amenities and nearby green space, while being within walking distance of the University of Melbourne's Parkville campus.
