GLS German Language School Berlin

GLS German Language School occupies a garden campus on Kastanienallee in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. Its grounds and accommodation buildings create a different setting from a school based entirely in an office block. The surrounding neighbourhood offers cafés, shops and residential streets, giving students a local Berlin base while they study German.

Intensive and evening German

The school’s intensive German programme runs on weekday mornings. Learners with some German can generally join on a Monday, with placement determining the appropriate class. The evening programme provides an alternative for people who work or have other daytime commitments, with lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays over a four-week course cycle.

Private lessons and small-group options allow a more focused study arrangement. GLS also offers routes connected with German examinations and further study. Applicants should choose between building general communication skills and preparing for a particular examination rather than assuming that every course follows the same syllabus.

Campus life in Prenzlauer Berg

Two hotels form part of the campus accommodation offering. This can make GLS worth considering for learners who would like teaching and a place to stay within the same campus environment. Accommodation categories, meal arrangements and availability should be checked separately from tuition.

Cultural activities complement the classroom programme and help students become familiar with Berlin. A useful course comparison includes the weekly timetable, the balance between group and individual teaching, and the amount of independent practice you want. The campus setting is a defining part of this school’s appeal for a German language stay in Berlin.
