About the school
Ewha Language Center teaches Korean at Ewha Womans University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The centre began Korean-as-a-foreign-language education in 1988 and has developed its own curricula and teaching materials. Its administrative base is in the Ewha-Samsung Education Culture Building on Ewhayeodae-gil.
Integrated Korean language learning
The intensive programme lasts ten weeks, with four seasonal terms each year. Students study reading, writing, listening and speaking together, with particular attention to communication. Classes use a team-teaching system in which two teachers alternate with the same group.
The course includes tasks connected with real situations and cultural classes related to the curriculum. Six levels are offered, allowing learners to enter at an appropriate stage after placement. The published intensive timetable is a weekday morning programme with 200 hours across the term.
Choosing between intensive and short-term study
Ewha also offers a separate short-term Korean programme aimed at developing communication in a shorter period. This should be compared on its own calendar and workload rather than treated as a shortened registration for the regular term.
Students planning a Seoul stay should check the relevant application and document deadlines before making travel arrangements. The teaching dates, placement test and accommodation application may fall at different times. Confirm the building and course format associated with the chosen programme, particularly if combining language study with other commitments in the city.
