Alliance Française de Singapour

Alliance Française de Singapour teaches French at 1 Sarkies Road and brings language courses together with French and Francophone cultural activities. Its programmes serve a range of ages and learning goals, including adults studying for travel, personal interest or further education. The centre provides both group teaching and private tuition.

French levels and study pace

Adult French follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The published progression includes intermediate A2, B1, B2 and advanced C1/C2 study, with beginner routes also available through the wider course programme. Regular and semi-intensive formats allow students to consider how frequently they want to attend lessons and how much time they can devote to practice between classes.

Additional focus courses cover conversation, grammar and, at appropriate levels, literature. These can be relevant for learners who want to concentrate on a particular area alongside a general course. The Alliance also provides information about French examinations, including DELF and DALF, for students who want formal evidence of their language ability.

Language learning and cultural participation

The institution’s activities include films, exhibitions, workshops and events associated with its media library. Such opportunities can add cultural context to classroom study. Before joining French classes in Singapore, confirm the placement level, course pace and current timetable. Learners with an examination goal should also establish which course supports their selected qualification and whether additional preparation is needed.
